RAZEL (Crestor) belongs to the group of medications known as HMG CoA reductase inhibitors (also known as "statins"). It is used in addition to diet and exercise to lower cholesterol levels. It works by blocking an enzyme that helps make cholesterol in the body. As a result, less cholesterol is made, decreasing the overall levels of cholesterol in the blood.

Individuals with high blood cholesterol levels have a higher risk of heart disease such as heart attack. When cholesterol levels are lowered through a combination of medication, diet, and exercise, the risk of heart disease is lowered as well. It takes 2 to 4 weeks to see the maximum effect of Crestor on cholesterol levels in blood tests.

As well as depression, it is also prescribed to treat panic and anxiety disorders, and OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder).

Side-effects - The side-effects of Zoloft include dry mouth, drowsiness, sweating, blurred vision and constipation, although most of these should diminish over time. You may experience some nausea and dizziness when you first start taking it, however these usually dissappear in a week or two.

A lowered sex drive is also a common side effect of this, as with most antidepressants.

A small proportion of people have found that coming off Zoloft can have flu-like sypmtoms such as headaches, runny nose, congestion and coughing.

If you experience any unusual symptoms or are concerned about side effects in anyway, it is important that you discuss this with your doctor or consult a pharmacist for advice. Usually these will not be anything to worry about, but best to be sure.

Dosage - For depression and obsessive compulsive disorder the usual starting dose for Zoloft is one 50mg tablet each day. Your doctor will increase this as appropriate. The maximum recommended dose of Zoloft is 200mg/day.

Warning -Zoloft should not be taken while taking any other antidepressant, particularly an MAOI.

Don't stop taking Zoloft or change the dose without checking with your doctor first. Dostinex belongs to a class of medicines known as prolactin inhibitors. Prolactin inhibitors such as Dostinex are used to treat different types of medical problems that occur when too much of the hormone prolactin is produced by the pituitary gland, which is found in the brain. An excess production of prolactin can result in menstrual problems in women and fertility problems in men and women.

Dostinex stops the brain from making and releasing prolactin from the pituitary gland. Dostinex is also used to prevent the onset of normal lactation (milk production) in cases where there is a medical need to prevent lactation.

Your doctor may choose to use Dostinex for other conditions not listed here. If you're unsure why you are taking Dostinex, please ask your doctor.

When used to prevent the onset of normal lactation, the dose is 1 mg of Dostinex given as a single dose on the first day after having a baby.

For prolactin disorders, the recommended starting dose of Dostinex for adults is 0.5 mg per week, given in one or two doses per week (for two doses, the tablet is cut in half). The dose may be increased by 0.5 mg per week until a maximum of 2 mg per week is reached. The dose should not be increased more often than every four weeks. The eventual dose of the drug will depend on the results of lab tests that measure the amount of prolactin in your blood. After the tests have been in the normal range for at least six months, the doctor may decide to stop the medication and continue to monitor the levels of prolactin in the blood.

Many things can affect the dose of medication that a person needs, such as body weight, other medical conditions, and other medications. If your doctor has recommended a dose different from the ones listed here, do not change the way that you are using the medication without consulting your doctor.

It is important to use Dostinex exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered if it is within one or two days of when you were supposed to take it. If it is almost time for your next dose, do not take the missed dose but go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double doses.

Store Dostinex in a dry place away from heat and direct light. Dostinex belongs to a class of medicines known as prolactin inhibitors. ZYBAN is given to a patient 150 mg/day (one tablet per day) for three days, and then the dosage is increased to 300 mg/day (2 tablets per day of 150 mg). The course of treatment, which begins ONE WEEK BEFORE THE TARGET QUIT DATE can be 8 weeks or more. It can be stopped abruptly. It can be combined with nicotine replacement therapy

    How It Works:

Zyban is the first non-nicotine, FDA-approved oral medication (a pill) for smoking cessation.

Zyban has proven to be twice as effective as the nicotine patch in keeping patients smoke free in the long term. It also has the potential to minimize the weight gain associated with smoking cessation.

ZYBAN is a non-nicotine aid to smoking cessation. Initially developed and marketed as an antidepressant (WELLBUTRIN [bupropion hydrochloride] Tablets and WELLBUTRIN SR [sustained release tablets], ZYBAN is chemically unrelated to tricyclic, tetracyclic, selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor, or other known antidepressant agents. Its structure closely resembles that of diethylpropion; it is related to phenylethylamines. ZYBAN is a relatively weak inhibitor of the neuronal uptake of norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine, and does not inhibit monoamine oxidase. The mechanism by which ZYBAN enhances the ability of patients to abstain from smoking is unknown. However, it is presumed that this action is mediated by noradrenergic and/or dopaminergic mechanisms.

    Side Effects:

Like all medicines, Zyban may cause side effects. The most common side effects include dry mouth and difficulty sleeping. These side effects are generally mild and often disappear after a few weeks. If you are having difficulty sleeping, avoid taking your medicine too close to bedtime.

The most common side effects that caused people to stop taking Zyban during clinical studies were shakiness and skin rash. Contact your doctor or health care professional if you have a rash or other troublesome side effects. Use caution before driving a car or operating complex machinery until you know if Zyban affects your ability to perform these tasks.

    Warnings -

There is a chance that approximately 1 out of every 1000 people taking bupropion hydrochloride, the active ingredient in Zyban, will have a seizure. The chance of this happening increases if you:

have a seizure disorder (for example epilepsy) have or have had an eating disorder (for example, bulimia or anorexia nervosa)

take more than the recommended amount of Zyban

take other medicines with the same active ingredient that is in Zyban, such as Wellbutrin (bupropion hydrochloride) Tablets and Wellbutrin SR (bupropion hydrochloride) Sustained-Release Tablets

You can reduce the chances of experiencing a seizure by following your doctor's directions on how to take Zyban. You should also discuss with your doctor whether Zyban is right for you. Drug Uses -

Aldara Cream is used to treat external genital and perianal warts and is different from most other treatments. It is a patient-applied cream that helps the body fights the virus instead of just getting rid of the warts. So Aldara Cream actually treats warts from the inside out.

    How Taken -

Aldara cream is easy to use at home. It's rubbed on the warts and left on during sleeping hours. Then it's washed off after waking. Use Aldara Cream exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Aldara Cream is for skin use only. Do not take by mouth or use in or near your eyes, lips or nostrils. Do not use Aldara Cream unless your healthcare provider has taught you the right way to use it. Talk to your healthcare provider if you have any questions. Aldara Cream is used for several skin conditions. Use Aldara Cream only on the area of your body to be treated. Your healthcare provider will tell you where to apply Aldara cream and how often and for how long to apply it for your condition. Do not use Aldara Cream longer than prescribed. Using too much Aldara Cream, or using it too often, or for too long can increase your chances for having a severe skin reaction or other side effect. Talk to your healthcare provider if Aldara Cream does not work for you. For external genital and perianal warts Aldara Cream is usually used once a day for 3 days a week. For these conditions, Aldara Cream is usually left on the skin for 6 to 10 hours. Treatment should continue until the warts are completely gone, or up to 16 weeks. For actinic keratosis, Aldara Cream is usually used once a day for 2 days a week. For this condition, Aldara Cream is usually left on the skin for about 8 hours. Treatment should continue for the full 16 weeks even if all actinic keratoses appear to be gone, unless you are told otherwise by your healthcare provider. The area you treat with Aldara Cream should be no larger than approximately the size of your forehead or one cheek (for example 2 inches).

    Warnings/Precautions -

If you notice severe skin irritation or flu-like symptoms (diarrhea, fatigue, fever, headache, or muscle pain), check with your doctor. It may be necessary for you to reduce the number of times a day that you use the medicine or to stop using the medicine for a short time until your skin is less irritated or your flu-like symptoms disappear. Avoid having genital, oral, or anal sex while the medicine is on your skin. Make sure you wash the cream off your skin before you engage in any sexual activity. Also, the medicine contains oils that can weaken latex (rubber) condoms, diaphragms, or cervical caps causing them not to work properly to prevent pregnancy. Do not use any other skin product on the same skin area on which you use this medicine, unless directed otherwise by your doctor. Do not share your medicine with others, even if you think that they have the same condition you have. If you are pregnant, check with your health care provider.
